OK, time for Democrats to throw Ray Nagin overboard, figuratively, of course. He says that Hurricane Katrina proved that God is mad at America. We know what we would say if Pat Robertson uttered this nonsense.
I consider myself religiously observant, if not devout. But I've had it with politicians of either party who claim to know the mind of God. Enough already.
A blog inspired by my favorite concept from Catholic social teaching, "the preferential option for the poor," which lies at the core of two flawed institutions to which I am loyal, the Democratic Party and the Catholic Church. A Windy Night in Little Harbour
Monday night was an interesting meteorological experience. It was extremely windy, but only in gusts. All would be peaceful for a time and a huge gust of wind would batter the boat. Then it would go quiet again...until the next gust. It was difficult to sleep.
In the morning, I checked the stars, using Star Walk on the IPad. One star outshone the others and I wanted to know what it was. I held up my IPad, put my finger not he brightest star on the screen and learned that Arciturus in the Bootes constellation.
Cool.
